Cienfuegos

After spending five days in colorful Trinidad Melissa and I took a 1,5 hours busride along the coast to Cienfuegos.

Cienfuegos is on the Unesco World Heritage List and contains a number of huge beautiful buildings.
Melissa left early next morning since she has an apointment with a friend in Havanna. We had been so close friends during the weeks we spent together in Manicaragua and Trinidad so it was hard to say goodbye, but I have the feeling we will meet again. 😊

I went to the shoemaker to fix my sandals and walked into a huge building filled with people with different skills. Shoemakers, mechanics, hairdressers, watchmakers, electricians and radio repairmen.

When I asked the hairdresser if I could take a photo of him and his customer everyone would be photographed.

I made jokes about the signs saying No Fumar and No Entrar con Bicicleta, since the watchmaker was smoking all the time and there were bicycles everywhere along the walls. I love to make people laugh!

The marked in Cienfuegos are filled with all kinds of vegetables and fruits. I wonder why I only get rice, beans, tomatoes and cucumber to eat in resturants and hostels!?

Judith from Austria and Karina from Germany arrived my hostel the same morning Melissa left. We desided to visit the national park outside Cienfuego.

There are two different kinds of hummingbirds, Zum Zum and Colibris. This one is a Zum Zum getting nectar from an Agave tree wich they in Mexico use to make tequilla.

These are termites living on the branch of a tree. They will slowly kill the tree wich is good for the forest since there will be more sun on the ground. Then seeds from other trees will easily grow up. Nature is marvelouse!

The pink flamingoes are living in monogamy their hole lives. They are pink because they live of the scrimps in the lake.
